Gary Berg, Founder of G. L. Berg Entertainment, recently?traveled to Holland, Belgium, and France.? Among the many exciting experiences he enjoyed, seeing street performers, musicians in the park, European comedy clubs, and city festivals happening everywhere reminded him how?much we share as?human beings and how basic principles and activities are similar across cultures.? What often makes traveling special is participation in the arts, cultural, and entertainment events that a particular region has to offer.?
Everyone has music.? Everyone has laughter.? Everyone has art, in many forms.? The beauty of traveling is to see how each culture puts its own stamp on arts and entertainment?to create its own twist on those experiences.? Whether it is circus arts, folk music, stand-up comedy, magic, or juggling, it all has similar roots, but each culture defines the way it is presented and created.? You see this in artist?s costumes, use of scenery, instrument and prop choices, and more.? We come home with new experiences, a new way of looking at life, and memories that enrich our lives.
In Minnesota, we are fortunate?to have?dedicated funding that supports?investment in arts, history, and cultural heritage programs.? In 2008, Minnesota voters passed a constitutional amendment creating a 3/8 cent sales tax to support outdoor heritage, clean waters, sustainable drinking water, parks and trails, arts, history, and cultural heritage projects and activities?with a goal of ??providing every Minnesotan lifelong access to programs and activities that engage him or her as innovator, historian, entrpreneur, and creator of Minnesota?s future.??? The innovation initiated through Minnesota?s Legacy Amendment?hopes to ?bolster Minnesota?s reputation as a center for creativity, innovation and imagination, supporting the long-term vitality of our state.?
Gary?s trip showed him once again that entertainment is universal and creates a better?place to?live.? The things we like about vacation often also make our communities a better place to live, and that is why Gary and the G. L. Berg staff is so committed to bringing live entertainment and performing artists to Minnesota, the Upper Midwest, and the country.? As Gary recently commented:? ?Work is work and stuff is just stuff but people and entertainment, when combined, are special and memorable.?? We hope you will be able to enjoy G. L. Berg performing artists and entertainers often as you participate in fairs, festivals, city parks, resorts, theaters, and private events throughout the upcoming months.
