HUDDERSFIELD can boast 11 candidates training to become Level I badminton coaches.
The group have undergone two days of coaching tuition with?Brian Wallwork and have now to set about delivering the skills learned before being assessed in June.
Working in groups, the budding coaches have put together shot session plans, coached them to their colleagues and participated in group feedback.
Wallwork, whose?daughter Jenny plays England ladies doubles and mixed doubles as No1, said of the group: ?There are some promising coaches and the group are a great bunch to work with.?
The course has been provided by Hayley Smith in a bid to recruit new help in her development drive for badminton in Huddersfield.
The candidates will, in the first instance, undertake coaching hours with Smith to qualify. She then hopes they will maintain enthusiasm going forward.
She said: ?It was apparent from the coaching party held in January that there are lots of L1 and L2 coaches who, since qualifying, have done very little coaching.
?The aim is to give opportunity to promising coaches ? and support ? to motivate further coaching after qualifying.
?I have so many areas?of badminton being developed at the moment and need help ? so the more coaches the more development.?
Next on the agenda?is the ?It?s a Family??BISI? Krypton Factor Knockout? being held at Huddersfield Sports Centre tomorrow (10am to 4pm), when most of the new recruits are lending a hand.
They will oversee 16 fun?challenges for the teams incorporating a mixture of physical and mental badminton tests, geared for any ability and age.
