Nearly one month after officially calling it quits, Miley Cyrus is finally ready to open up about her break up from Liam Hemsworth!
Miley has been tight-lipped since the two announced the end of their engagement on September 16th, refusing to answer any questions on their split.
But after sitting down with Ellen DeGeneres on her show, which airs TODAY, Miley revealed how much she's already moved on!
The subject was brought up after Ellen reminded Miley about the bachelorette party she threw for her during her last appearance on the show.
Said Ellen:
"I want my money back."
LOLz!!!
Miley got a good laugh at that one and replied:
"I should have kept one of those [stripper] dudes' numbers!"
With the light-hearted joking out of the way though, Miley got real, telling Ellen that it's not awkward for her to talk about Liam and her breaking up. She explained:
"…because I'm living it. I think people spend more time actually thinking about it than I really do. I just believe when a chapter is done you have to close it and start that new one. That's kind of where I am right now. I felt like I have so much to be thankful for at this time that my energy hasn't really been focused on that."
Despite all of the attention surrounding her, Miley still feels she's been offered the privacy she needs during this tough time. She told Ellen:
"I've been kind of impressed with people and how much they've actually shown more respect. I don't really look up anything, so maybe they haven't been showing respect, but from what I have seen, I felt like people have really focused on my music right now when I've needed them and have actually been really good about that. Because that's the only thing I worried about—I didn't want it to make me to sacrifice what I've been working for, for just the attention to be on that."
Miley's album Bangerz dropped just days after her and Liam parted ways, but the songs are all pieces of a story that tell of their rocky relationship, coming to an end. As Miley puts it:
"I think it says that with starting with Adore You and ending with Someone Else. I feel like you can really find like this arch of, like, growth. I really listened to it now that it's done and I have like my physical copy and I put it in my car. I'm like, ‘This is really like telling a story.' I think I knew more intuitively where my life was going then I actually thought I did at the time."
Cyrus and Hemsworth have not spoken in the past month, but Miley chalks that up to how busy they both are. She has been touring nonstop, promoting her album, while Liam is hard at work filming The Hunger Games: Mockingjay in Georgia with Jennifer Lawrence.
Miley's focus is on other things now. She says:
"You know, for me, I really haven't gotten to see anyone right now. ‘Cause I've been so crazy busy, I'm just letting that chapter kind of close and just looking forward to that new one. I want to be really clear and determined with everything I'm doing in my life right now, and I have been. I keep saying I'm the happiest I've ever been and that's not even a dig. That's just me, because I really am genuinely happy finally with myself, which I think sometimes it takes you separating yourself from someone else to really be happy with who you are. I've never been able to just be alone, and I'm obsessed with being alone and like hearing my thoughts."
At only 20-years-old, Miley has plenty of chapters ahead of her! And if you're happy, we're happy, gurl!
